Our Story
Where It All Began
Nomi Bangor began with Kartik and Nomi, two people brought together by a love of food, hospitality, and looking after people properly.
Our story has always been built on care. Not shortcuts, not noise, and not trying to follow every trend. Just good food, thoughtful service, and a belief that a meal should feel personal from the moment a guest walks through the door.
From Bangor University to Nomi Bangor
Our connection with Bangor goes back to Bangor University. For Nomi, this was where a new chapter of life began. Before moving to North Wales, she trained and worked as a dentist in India, a profession built on patience, precision, trust, and care for people. When she came to study at Bangor University, she found herself inspired by the beauty of the area and by the idea of creating something meaningful here.
Choosing hospitality was not simply a change of career for Nomi. It was a heartfelt decision to care for people in a different way. Her background in dentistry gave her a deep understanding of attention to detail, calmness, and personal care, all of which now shape the way guests are welcomed at Nomi Bangor.
Together, Kartik and Nomi wanted to build something that reflected who they are. A restaurant with Indian roots, modern ideas, warm hospitality, and a deep respect for North Wales.
That dream first came to life in Pwllheli, around 30 miles from Bangor, where they opened their first restaurant. It gave them the chance to introduce their style of Indian cooking to the North Wales coast and to learn what mattered most to their guests. The response gave them the confidence to take the next step and bring their vision back to Bangor.
Modern Indian Food With Real Experience Behind It
More Than A Curry House
At Nomi Bangor, Indian food is shaped with modern ideas, careful presentation and genuine hospitality. The food is inspired by Indian flavours but shaped with a modern approach. Kartik’s cooking is not about repeating the usual curry house experience. It is about flavour, balance, presentation, and care in every detail.
His background in hospitality includes experience with respected names such as The Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons, where he developed a strong understanding of service, standards, and the small details that make guests feel looked after.
Kartik also holds a Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 2 qualification, which adds another layer to the Nomi experience. From carefully chosen wines to thoughtful pairings, every part of the meal is considered with care.
A Restaurant and Rooms in the Heart of Bangor
Today, Nomi Bangor is more than an Indian restaurant in Bangor. It is a welcoming place to eat, stay, and enjoy North Wales at a slower pace.
Alongside the restaurant, Nomi also offers comfortable modern hotel rooms in Bangor, making it a natural base for guests visiting the area. Whether you are here for a weekend break, a university visit, a meal with family, or a few days exploring North Wales, we want you to feel at home.
Our location places guests close to some of the most loved parts of the region. Menai Bridge and Anglesey are nearby, Bethesda is within easy reach, and the mountains, lakes, and walking routes of Snowdonia and Eryri are close enough for a day of exploring before returning to Bangor for food and rest.
Honesty, Warmth, and Heart
Nomi has always been a family run place at heart. We care about the food, but we care just as much about how people feel when they are with us.
For us, hospitality means warmth, honesty, and consistency. It means welcoming guests properly, serving food we are proud of, and creating a space where people can relax.
From Nomi’s time at Bangor University to our first restaurant in Pwllheli, and now to Nomi Bangor, the journey has been shaped by hard work, patience, and purpose.
Nomi is our way of sharing that journey with you. A modern Indian restaurant with rooms in Bangor, rooted in North Wales, shaped by experience, and built with heart.
